    What's in Android 6.0?18681%

    What's in Android 6.0?

With the official release of Android 6.0, the Internet is rich with reports of new Android M features. As usual with Android, the announced features address both the broad (battery life) and narrow (support for creating and performing music). Time will tell which features stand the test of time and which do not.

Motorola has released a list of phones that will get the update to Android 6.0 and it's posted here. Phones not on the list may still be on the radar for updates containing bug fixes, security patches and updates to Lollipop, but won't move beyond Lollipop.

We're going to be testing M soon, but in the meantime, we are not above shamelessly feasting on information we've found elsewhere, as we work on adapting it for Motorola devices.

So far, the best resource I've found is Google's own site for Android 6.0. It runs through the major features with particular focus on Doze (better battery life), On Tap (get relevant information on-demand and fast) more control over security and app permissions. Be sure to click the "All Features" menu on the right to get information on additional features.

Other articles we like, from a little information to TMI:

We're aware of log-in issues on the site, and we have our team looking into it as I write this. So sorry for the problem and we're hoping for a quick resolution.

If you are already logged in (like I was) you may want to stay that way. Site seems fine if you are already logged in.

I'll post an update when I know more. (Provided I'm still logged in!)

A beautiful day in the neighborhood

We're happy to welcome the new Moto E (2nd Gen) community to the Motorola Owners' Forums. The Moto E continues our quest to deliver a great mobile experience at a great price.

I got a kick out of this video from our CEO, Rick Osterloh. It's for media members, but thought you might enjoy seeing it too.

If you decide to pick up a new Moto E (and you really should, especially for your teenagers!) please join us in the new community.

    Spanish Language Now Available

For a long time we've wanted to become a more global peer-to-peer support community. We're proud to announce that day has arrived. We now have a select number of our communities that have the ability to change from English to Spanish. And back again, if you change by accident.

In the Moto G 1st Gen, Moto G 2nd Gen, Moto X 1st Gen, Moto X 2nd Gen, Moto E, DROID TURBO, MOTO MAXX, Nexus 6 and MOTO 360 communities you can now participate in Spanish. We realize some text may still appear in English even if you changed your setting to Spanish. We'll work to optimize the community further as soon as we're able to. Thanks for bearing with us.

If you're bilingual, we'd love to have you participate and help in those discussions as they arise.

So if you suddenly seeing a language you're not familiar with, it's Spanish!

We're evaluating offering new languages in our public communities. If you'd like to see another language supported. Please post in the comments below.

Missing posts restored! Now to fix the email...55100%

Missing posts restored! Now to fix the email notifications...

After six weeks of effort, the missing posts have been restored. We're still running some checks, so if you see that we still have gaps, please post here and let us know. All points associated with those posts should be restored as well.

I wish this marked the end of our technical difficulties... but no.

As some of you have noticed, email notifications of new posts have largely stopped since last Sunday. This can significantly reduce activity in our communities. We're working with our vendor to restore this service. Apologies for this problem!

Since we are on the topic of technical issues, we're also working on some other items. Several are related to product registration and getting devices properly opted in to the Motorola Feedback Network. More on that as we make progress.

Thanks for your patience as we work to fix these issues.

    Updated: Missing posts overnight

As you may have noticed, a number of comments have gone missing from threads in communities across our forums. We noticed the issue late last night and we're working with the vendor to restore them.

At this time, we are hopeful that we won't lose any comments, but until the issue is fixed we won't really know. The team is working on it now but we don't know how long it may take.

If you have lost points due to lost comments, those will be restored when those comments are retrieved.

Thanks for your patience as we get this corrected.

    - Matt

    Hi again.

It's been nearly two weeks, and we've not yet been able to restore the missing comments.

The comments still exist; the challenge has been to rebuild the threads and then import them into our active communities. The rebuilding process took more than a week, but the final steps failed, so our vendor is back to the drawing board -- and it is Christmas, so not everyone is working over the coming days. It will likely be a few days before the effort gets back on track.

We're still hopeful that we can get this solved. Apologies for the delay.

    Happy holidays to anyone celebrating!

Update2: 1/21/2015 We expect a short outage tonight around 9:30pm Central to fix this issue. If you are posting a comment at this time it may fail. After the outage we anticipate the missing posts from Mid November to December 10th should be restored. Mark (Forums Manager)

It's a minor holiday for some people, but for us it's a biggie -- the day we update the Android Update News page for Motorola phones. And today is that day!

Once Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially released, we intend to bring this latest upgrade to many of our other Motorola devices as well. This includes Moto X (1st & 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen), Moto G with 4G LTE, Moto E, and Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini. We're still working out the details on timing and the upgrade depends on our partners' support, so stay tuned to our software upgrades page for the latest and greatest.

There are a lot of well-known Lollipop songs - which do you prefer? I'm more into the oldies on this one...

    Welcome back!9882%
BLOG posted March 26, 2014 by Matt (Forums Manager)ÜBERXprt (12,000+ points)
    Welcome back!

Because we are committed to the peer-to-peer support model on the Motorola Owners' Forums, there are precious few of us actual Motorola employees out here. I'm here, and Nicole is here. Wendy has started helping out as well, and there are a few others, including our mysterious forums elves like luilao ("The High Spirit"), elnard and emejoy.

But our numbers have just increased for the better. I'm happy to welcome back Mark, who was my partner on this site from before it was even launched. If you have been a member here for awhile, you will likely remember him -- please say hello!

Mark will dive back into forums activities, helping to moderate and manage the site. With his help we hope to improve site performance and organization and continue to improve the Motorola Feedback Network.

And of course, Mark and I both lean heavily on our astounding team of MotoXprts, the volunteer moderators that do all the heavy lifting here in our communities. I am constantly amazed and humbled by their contributions. Endless thanks to the MotoXprts team (in no particular order)!
